On June 3, 2025, the “China-Europe New Energy Industry Cooperation Conference” was successfully hosted by CEST in Bayreuth, Germany. The Lord Mayor of Bayreuth Thomas Ebersberger, Director of Guangdong Economic & Trade Office Europe (Munich) Luo Wenqi, President of the China-Europe Science and Technology Cooperation Association Dr. Michael Hohl, Board Member of CEST Zheng Yongqiang, and other distinguished guests attended the event. More than 40 representatives from governments, research institutions, industry associations, and new energy enterprises from both China and Europe participated in the event. The conference focused on cutting-edge topics such as green energy supply, energy storage, and hydrogen energy, injecting fresh momentum into deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Europe in green and low-carbon development.
Thomas Ebersberger extended a warm welcome to all the guests and expressed his hope that they would take this opportunity to gain deeper insights into the local culture, economy, and technological development in Bayreuth. He encouraged greater exchange in relevant industries and the advancement of more China-Europe cooperation projects.
Luo Wenqi provided an overview of the development of the new energy industry in Guangdong Province. He highlighted that Guangdong, as a key hub within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, not only leads China in economic output but also stands at the forefront of green development and innovative transformation. He expressed Guangdong’s willingness to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Europe in the field of new energy with a more open attitude, and to share new opportunities for green development.
Dr. Michael Hohl delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the event’s host. He introduced the mission of the China-Europe Science and Technology Cooperation Association and the purpose of the conference. He expressed his interest in hearing the insights and perspectives shared by the attendees in the new energy sector. Dr. Hohl also expressed his hope that the conference would serve as an effective platform for China and Europe to exchange ideas and engage in dialogue on cutting-edge technologies and market applications, fostering industrial cooperation and injecting new vitality into the economic development of both sides.
In his speech, Zheng Yongqiang emphasized that this conference will further enhance dialogue and collaborative development between Chinese and European new energy enterprises. He believed that, with the joint efforts of governments, industry associations, research institutions, and enterprises from both regions, more forward-looking and practical cooperation outcomes with industrial value will be realized.
Representatives from the Energy Technology Center of the University of Bayreuth (ZET), SAJ Digital Energy Germany GmbH, Sinexcel, and Guangzhou Hengyun Enterprises Holdings Limited respectively delivered presentations on topics including a far-sighted model for the energy supply, eleX home and commercial & industrial photovoltaic storage solution, energy storage and microgrid technologies, and the development trends of the hydrogen energy industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Using detailed case studies and data, the speakers showcased the technological achievements and cooperative potential of China-Europe enterprises in the new energy sector.
At the conference, Thomas Ebersberger and other distinguished guests took part in the unveiling ceremony of the “China-Europe New Energy Innovation Center.” Established under the China-Europe (Bavaria) Innovation Center, which operates within the China-Europe Science and Technology Cooperation Association, the Center is dedicated to technology research and development, commercialization, talent exchange, and project incubation in new energy fields such as hydrogen and energy storage. It aims to provide one-stop matchmaking services for new energy enterprises from China and Europe, fostering a closer and more efficient industrial cooperation ecosystem in the new energy sector between the two regions.
This conference not only highlighted the cooperation opportunities between China and Europe in the new energy sector, but also established a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in technological innovation and sustainable development.
