From June 19 to 21, 2024, Dr. Michael Hohl, the President of China-Europe Science and Technology Cooperation Association, and Dr. Manuel Becher, a board member of CEST, visited Guangzhou, China.
Attend “2024 China-Europe Industrial Investment Cooperation Conference”
On the morning of June 20, “Guangzhou Development District / Huangpu District Global Investment Promotion Year-2024 China-Europe Industrial Investment Cooperation Conference” was held in Guangzhou. Over 200 representatives from foreign enterprises from Germany, France, Italy, and other countries, along with representatives from enterprises in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, and other regions in Guangdong, as well as industry experts and scholars, attended the event.
As one of the co-organizers of this event, Dr. Hohl stated in his speech that CEST will actively promote information sharing for China-Europe science and technology cooperation, facilitate interactions and exchanges among businesses, research institutions, and industry associations from both China and Europe, and promote the incubation and application of technologies in both China and Europe.
Mr. Zheng Yongqiang, the President of the Chinese Side of the Board of CEST and the Director of Guangdong China-Europe Enterprise Cooperation Promotion Center (GCEC), shared his insights on innovation models of China-Europe industrial cooperation. He introduced that GCEC, as an innovation platform for China-Europe two-way industrial cooperation established by Guangzhou Development District, is dedicated to promoting technological exchanges and industrial cooperation between China and Europe in fields such as new energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, and life health. It serves as an "express" for two-way industrial exchanges and cooperation between China and Europe and has successfully completed multiple China-Europe cooperation projects.
Dr. Becher, Managing Director of Bayreuth Marketing & Tourism GmbH, and a board member of CEST, introduced the business environment in Bayreuth, including local industries, cultural features, and tourism resources, which captured the keen interest of the event attendees.
At the event, Dr. Hohl, on behalf of CEST, signed a cooperation agreement with the China-Europe Intelligent Connectivity Innovation Center located in Guangzhou Development District. Both parties will work together to expand communication and cooperation channels for enterprises in the intelligent IoT sector between China and Europe, and strengthen trade and commerce between the two regions.
Visit government departments, enterprises and colleges
On the morning of June 19, Dr. Hohl and Dr. Becher, accompanied by Mr. Zheng Yongqiang, visited the Exhibition Hall of Guangzhou Development District and the Exhibition Hall of Guangzhou Hengyun Enterprises Holdings Ltd. Dr. Hohl gained detailed insights into the history of the Guangzhou Development District, the development of the new energy industry, and technological innovations. He expressed admiration for the significant achievements made by the Guangzhou Development District over the past forty years.
On the afternoon of June 19, Dr. Hohl and Dr. Becher visited Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau. They held discussions with Mr. Wu Weihua, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau, as well as representatives of Guangzhou Lingnan Group Holdings Co., Ltd., GZL International Travel Service Ltd., and Guangzhou Digital Technology Group. Both sides introduced their city to each other and discussed potential cooperation in leading industries, tourism, or cultural exchanges between the two cities and regions.
On the afternoon of June 20, Dr. Hohl met with Mr. Han Mingzhu, Deputy Mayor of Zigong City. They discussed exchanges and cooperation between Bayreuth and Zigong City, exploring the possibility of integrating the Bayreuth Festival with the Zigong Lantern Festival.
On June 20, Dr. Hohl met with representatives from CEST’s first regular member, Honor Technologies Germany GmbH. Dr. Hohl presented the membership certificate to Mr. Xu Zhiyu, Senior Vice President of Honor Device Co., Ltd.
On the morning of June 21, Dr. Hohl met with Mr. Li Bingshu, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary-General of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector, at the Liaison Office in China of CEST. Both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement, formally establishing a strategic partnership between the two organizations.
On the afternoon of June 21, Dr. Hohl and his delegation visited Guangzhou Huaxia Vocational College, where they met with Mr. Li Qusheng, the Vice Chairman of the College, where they met with Mr. Li Qusheng, the Vice Chairman of the College, as well as Vice Presidents Mr. Liu Yueqi and Mr. Fu Hongxin. Mr. Li Qusheng provided an introduction to the College for Dr. Hohl. The two sides discussed potential cooperation between the University of Bayreuth and Guangzhou Huaxia Vocational College.
